Location | Simons Town

Simons Town is situated in False Bay on the eastern side of Cape Town’s peninsula. It is 40 km from the city centre and marks the end of the railway line that runs from Cape Town through the Southern Suburbs. Beyond Simonstown, heading south, is the Boulders Beach, famous for being home to penguines, and Cape Point Nature Reserve, which ends in the southernmost tip of Cape Town.

Simons Town has its own Waterfront which has two restaurants with waterside terraces and ten retail specialty shops overlooking the Yacht Basin and Naval Base. One of the shops is the well-known  Heather Auer Art and Sculpture Gallery. Simons Town’s main street is lined with quaint stores. For a more varied shopping experience, residents must travel to Long Beach Mall which has a large Woolworths, a Pick ‘n Pay, a cinema complex and all the usual standard and specialty stores found in a large shopping mall.

Schooling | Simons Town

Water’s Edge Primary and Baby Care Centre as well as Simons Town High School are located within Simons Town. The latter is one of the few schools in the Western Cape that offers a course in Hospitality Studies as part of the syllabus for Grades 10 to 12. Further afield is the excellent Reddam School opposite Steenberg Wine Estate. This is an independent school, both co-educational and non-denominational, with Pre-primary, Preparatory and College facilities.
